Movement Meets Mark: A Yoga & Abstract Art Workshop

Saturday 28th March

10:00 - 12:00

£35

WORKSHOP SUMMARY

A creative fusion of slow flow yoga and abstract art, Movement Meets Mark invites you to explore expression through both body and page. Move, meditate and translate gesture into chalk drawings in a relaxed, supportive space designed to awaken your creative instincts.

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

Movement Meets Mark is a unique, immersive workshop where yoga and visual art come together in a shared creative language. Led by our resident slow flow vinyasa and meditation instructor and local fine art teacher, this session is designed to help you access creativity through both movement and stillness.

We begin with a thoughtfully sequenced slow flow vinyasa practice to cultivate presence, awareness and embodied inspiration. Through guided meditation, you’ll be invited into a calm and focused state that gently unlocks creative freedom, removing pressure and expectation.

You’ll then revisit three short movement sequences from the class and explore how each one can be translated into expressive abstract chalk drawings. Each flow becomes an exploration of gesture, emotion and energy, transformed into line, texture and form.

No prior experience in yoga or art is needed. This workshop is about process rather than outcome, offering a supportive and relaxed environment where you can reconnect with your creative instincts. You’ll leave grounded, inspired and with three expressive artworks to take home as a reminder of your creative voice.

YOUR TEACHER

Katie is a Hatha, Ashtanga, and Vinyasa instructor, as well as an art teacher. Her teaching journey began in Dharamshala, in the Himalayas, where she discovered the transformative power of yoga asana and philosophy in supporting both mental and physical well-being.

Katie began her career teaching Ashtanga and high-energy classes, but over time developed a deep appreciation for the slower, more restorative side of yoga, particularly the grounding benefits of yin and relaxation practices.

Alongside teaching, Katie is also a practising artist, inspired by the intricate details of the human body and what it is capable of. Body positivity is central to both her art and her yoga teaching. One of Katie’s favourite creative outlets is designing new yoga classes that weave together movement, mindfulness, and creativity. She looks forward to welcoming you onto the mat and discovering strength together through a meditative flow.
